Welcoming the Dental Family of Dr. James Horton
Dear Patients & Friends,
I have always said I would work as your dentist as long as I enjoyed it and felt skilled enough, or until something happened to keep me from it. Over the past 18 months “something” has happened. In late 2020 a tumor was found in one of my eyes, a rare disease known as uveal or ocular melanoma. Elements of that remain unresolved.
After much deliberation, I have realized it is time for me to discontinue practicing dentistry full-time at Horton Dental Care. I want to personally thank every one of my patients for their commitment to this practice and all the wonderful relationships I have developed with each one of you over the years. I am forever grateful and honored to have been able to serve you and your family for all your dental needs.
Going forward, I have entrusted my patients to my good friends and colleagues, Drs. Robert and Pamela Cain with East Tennessee Periodontics located in Hardin Valley just off of Pellissippi Parkway at 2040 Castaic Lane. I have worked closely with Dr. Cain over the last 25 years and referred many of my patients to him for periodontics and dental implant surgeries. Dr. Pamela Cain is an excellent general dentist who will take care of your restorative needs. Emily Newkirk, our hygienist that you have come to know over the last two years, will be joining Dr. Cain’s office as part of this transition so you will see a familiar face.
As a courtesy to all Horton Dental Care patients, new patient exam and x-ray fees will be waived upon scheduling your first visit. They are currently in-network with Delta Dental but will file most insurances on your behalf. They also offer an in-house dental savings plan that provides a lot of value over traditional dental insurance at an affordable price. Dr. Cain’s office will be contacting you as the time for your next dental hygiene appointment approaches.
This transition of practice—the transfer of your care to Drs. Robert and Pamela Cain is effective immediately.
It is hard for me to imagine not caring for patients, not being your dentist and Becky feels the same. But life presents situations that require us to change direction. With your thoughts and prayers we will go forward, struggle against the disease and try to enjoy every minute of life. . . and you bet—we will continue to look for ways to help and serve others and our community. Becky and I have been forever blessed. You have enriched our lives. God bless you all!
